The Fairborn Boys Soccer Team beat Xenia 6-2 Tuesday night to win the GWOC South. It was the first time the Fairborn Boys Soccer program won their Conference since 1981. Zayne Pacifico scored early to give the Hawks the lead. Xenia quickly tied it up 1-1. Fairborn scored two more times on goals from Troy Herald and Donovan Dierker. Keegan Dierker had 2 assists in the first half and Donovan Dierker had 1 assist. Joe Nickel led the offense in the second half scoring three goals. All three goals were assisted by Troy Herald after getting around the corner and using his speed and finesse to set up several easy finishes.
It was a team effort with a strong defense led by goalie Zach Gillman sweeper Jared Bates, Stopper Ned Dunbar and outside backs Tyler Manning and Jacob Sowers.
The Hawks travel to Springfield on Thursday and to Miamisburg on Saturday.
The Hawks host Sidney on Monday at Fairborn Stadium for the first rounf of the State tournament. The winner of that game plays the defending state champions Beavercreek next Thursday at Beavercreek.
